Southwestern  Black Bean Burgers

These Southwestern Black Bean Burgers are so hearty and full of smoky bold flavors!

Ingredients

Drain and rinse black beans.

Shake the excess water off and spread them out on a large baking sheet.

Mash most of the beans and let them air dry.

Stir the flaxseed and warm water together. Set it aside to thicken.

Sauté the onion and peppers until they're soft.

Finely dice some of the peppers and onions. Save the rest for burger toppings.

Add the beans, peppers, onions, and remaining ingredients to a large bowl.

Stir everything together until it's well combined.

Stir the oat flour into this dense mixture.

Roll out and flatten 8 portions.

Let the black bean patties sit for 10 minutes.

Cook them in a sizzling hot pan until they're crispy and slightly charred on both sides.

Assemble burgers with avocado, sautéed onions and peppers, cilantro, and green chilies.
