Jackfruit Patty Mixture

  • 3/4 cup rolled oats, (65g)
  • 14 ounce can of jackfruit, (400g)
  • 1/4 medium sweet onion
  • 1/4 cup nutritional yeast, (12g)
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp dried oregano

  • buns and toppings such as lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, ketchup, etc.

Instructions

  • Rinse the jackfruit through a colander and pat it dry. Let it air dry further while gathering the other ingredients.
  • Pulse the rolled oats into a fine consistency in a food processor. Add the remaining patty ingredients (jackfruit, nutritional yeast, onion, ketchup, and seasoning). Pulse this into a moist mixture.
  • Transfer the ground jackfruit mixture to a bowl, cover it, and let it chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • Heat a large pan to medium, then coat it with a thin layer of olive oil. Form 4 thick patties that are about 1/3 cup each. The patties will be moist.
  • Cook the burgers for 3-4 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy. Add your favorite burger toppings and enjoy!

Notes

  • Add the patties to the pan once it's sizzling hot for burgers that are crispy on the outside.
  • Try not to overcook the burgers! Sear the outside, but they should still be juicy on the inside.
