Delicious pasta is coated in a tomato-rich, creamy sauce with a spicy kick in this vegan Gigi Hadid Pasta. Ready in less than 20 minutes, this cheesy, comforting dish is such a breeze to throw together. Serve this twist on penne alla vodka on a busy weeknight or as a fancy meal!
This new family favorite is a spicy, veganized, and alcohol-free version of the viral recipe, Gigi Hadid Spicy Vodka Pasta.
You might be wondering what in the world that is… Gigi Hadid is a beautiful model who shared her delicious recipe with the world on TikTok and Instagram.
To be honest, I’m fairly new to those two social media platforms, but I don’t think it’s ever too late to veganize a hit recipe!

This is such a simple recipe that’s very similar to her original, except for a few tweaks including making it vegan. It is absolutely irresistible and great for meal prep!
You can cook the sauce with a splash of vodka, but I like to use lemon juice instead. Either way, they are both really good!

Ingredients and Substitutions
- Pasta - Use any pasta. I like penne, shells, or rigatoni because they tend to capture the sauce well, but any will do! Even gluten-free or whole wheat can be used.
- Oil - I think olive oil is best here for its rich flavor, but another cooking oil works.
- Onion - Shallots here are fantastic, but red onion can be used as well.
- Garlic - Freshly minced is best; however, powdered can work in a pinch.
- Tomato Paste - This pantry staple is what makes the sauce so delicious.
- Lemon Juice - Adds an acidic element and balance to the flavors. Or, you can go with the traditional vodka here if you happen to have it on hand.
- Vegan Creamer - Use the unsweetened vegan creamer that’s traditionally used for coffee. I like soy creamer made by Silk. You can use vegan half and half if you can’t find creamer. A third option is plant-based milk, but this will make a thinner sauce.
- Vegan Butter - Adds a velvety smooth and creamy touch to the sauce.
- Pasta Water - Reserve a bit of the pasta water before straining the cooked noodles. This will help thin out and spread the pasta sauce while also adhering to the pasta.
- Seasoning - All you need is salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Feel free to add any other favorites and adjust the red pepper according to your spice-level preference.
- Vegan Parmesan - This adds a flavorful and cheesy touch.
- Basil - Fresh basil truly takes this spicy pasta over the top! Parsley can be used instead.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Here are some quick visual steps. Find the full recipe with exact measurements on the recipe card below.
Boil the pasta to al dente according to the package instructions. Be sure to save ½ cup of the pasta water before straining it.
Make the sauce while the pasta cooks. Prep the aromatics by dicing the shallots and mincing the garlic.
Heat a large pan over medium heat. Once heated, add the oil.
Add the shallots to the pan and stir them around as they cook for 2-3 minutes, or until soft. Next, add the garlic and cook it for about a minute as it becomes fragrant.
Spoon in the tomato paste and stir often as it cooks for 4-5 minutes. It will become a darker color.
Stir in the lemon juice or vodka. Once that’s fully incorporated, add the creamer, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
Cook the sauce for 1-2 more minutes, or until the sauce thickens. Taste to see if you want to add more seasoning.
Toss in the cooked pasta, ¼ cup of the pasta water, and the vegan butter. Stir to coat until the butter has melted. Add more pasta water if needed.
Take the pasta off of the heat and stir in the vegan parmesan.
Garnish with fresh basil and enjoy!
Recipe Variation Ideas
- Stir in vegan mozzarella to make it cheesier.
- Toss in some vegan chicken or vegan sausage.
- Add veggies such as bell peppers, mushrooms, spinach, or kale.
Storage & Reheating
Store the spicy vegan pasta in a sealed container in the refrigerator for 4 days or in the freezer for 2 months. Reheat it in the microwave or stovetop until heated through. Add a splash of vegetable broth or plant-based milk to thin out the sauce if needed.

- Pasta - Use any pasta such as penne, shells, etc.
